Abigail Daker is my favourite map illustrator and I have her print here hanging at home. She specialises in creating unique, hand rendered artwork with an awesome attention to detail. Her previous commissions have included large scale graphics for vinyl wall applications and window displays, a series of wine labels and a variety of editorial and literary projects.

Logo Process

It is always hard when you are in the creative industry to design your own logo or brand. As this was not Abigail's main area of design she need help in creating something memorable, iconic and which fitted her style.

Sketch work

This is the first time I had used Paper by 53 on the iPad 3 for designing logos and sketch work but this has now become my favourite sketching app.

Initial Designs

From the sketches this is the first design that I worked up in illustrator.


From this I altered the design by adding an effect that made it look like the logo was on some textured paper.

Final Design

After a few discussions with Abi we finally settled on this logo.
